Your Weekly Update from Marceline UMC
November 9, 2020
Hello Church,
Way back in, at a couple of different points, I said it had been an interesting couple of weeks. I assumed, at that time that I wouldn't have anything else that would top that. I'm pretty sure the last couple of weeks have topped that, or at least come close.
Now we are to a point where I hope things will be settling down. Please continue to watch your email and Facebook about services this coming Sunday. I'm hopeful that we'll be in person, but myself and the Church Council will be watching things carefully.
Next Sunday we'll celebrate All Saints Sunday (finally) and Communion. Also, be looking towards Nov. 22. That Sunday our own Bishop Bob Farr will be in worship with us!
Our parting shot this week is from my front yard, with a few words about how we go forward. Scroll all the way down for the picture.
Remember you can forward these emails on to folks that might be interested and they can subscribe to our email list to stay up-to-date on things.
Have a great week!
Peace,
Pastor John

This is the tree in our front yard. This morning it's a reminder for me that seasons change, and one folds into the next. I've voted in six presidential elections and exactly half the time I have voted for the winner.
We know as we go forward that one season always gives way to the next. Our question is how do we make the most of it? We all know that we are very divided, so how do we overcome the division?
I don't think we will overcome all of it, nor should we. Rather, how do we overcome enough of it that we can be a nation together? That's our choice now.
