Here’s the late update for this week!

Hello Church,

I’m a little late in getting this out this week, but I wanted to make sure that I did get this out to you this week! One of the first big things that I want to announce is that we have a date set for our first Messy Church!!

Sunday April 23rd at 4:30pm will be our first Messy Church! Watch for opportunities to be a part of this new thing that we’re doing. This is something that we’re trying once a month for a while. It is addition to our regular Sunday morning worship. Its for all ages, but especially geared for families with young kids. But don’t worry. If you don’t have little kids, you can still come. I know you’ll be engaged with what’s going on, right next to the kids.

This Sunday is Youth Sunday!! Our High School kids, and Middle School/Junior High kids have been putting a message and a children’s message together. Its going to be a good Sunday. You Don’t want to miss it.

Also, take a look farther down for announcements about Holy Week. Its coming up soon.

Next week we are hosting a Lenten Luncheon Service from Ministries in Linn County. It will be on Wednesday at noon. Everyone is invited to come. We’ll have lunch after the service. If you can help with the lunch on the day of, or can help with a donation, please let me know. Its going to be a good service.

I’ve also got something I’m going to try in these emails, and that will be a few interesting articles to read about other things going on in Methodism. So take a look at a few articles below.

I mentioned a silly song from Ray Stephens in the message on Sunday. Take a look at the end of the email to see the video. Its really absurd in a fun way.

Parting Shot

I’m sharing this video in all silliness…but the point behind it is a good one. We live in a world that wants things to make sense in very logical ways. The trouble is that not everything should, or does make sense logically. And there are some things that are logical, but absurd…like this song.

Another example of that is when Jesus disciples ask him about who sinned: a man who was born blind, or his parents. The assumption is that someone had to sin in order to cause the man to be born blind. That makes logical sense, until you start really looking at it. One solution is that the man sinned, yet how could he have sinned so badly that he would be born blind? That’s not an order of events that makes sense. It makes logical sense in a worldview that says it has to make sense. But it doesn’t make sense any other way. Jesus calls out that way of thinking and says that we need a different way of looking at the world. He then lives out his life to show us that way.
