Ongoing information sessions, General Conference starts in a week
Your Weekly Update from Marceline UMC
Hello Church,
I know for many of us it’s been a bit of a whirlwind week. We can now officially say who our next pastor is going to be. His name is Joe Cuminale and he is currently the pastor over at Meadville nad Laclede. He is an Associate Member of the Missouri Annual Conference. That puts him between a Full Time Licensed Local Pastor (Me) and an Ordained Elder (like Pastor Doug). He has been in Ministry for about a decade or more, and at his current appointment for 7 years.
He and his wife Amanda live with their four kids in Brookfield, and his two oldest kids join them in the Summers and on some holidays. It was a pleasure to have them at the Church on Saturday night. We also had members of the church that will be joining us in attendance on Saturday as well.
Now that the announcements have been made, we can move fully into a time of transition. Because I have known Joe for several years, and he is close by, we’re going to be able to do a lot of things with this transition that I wouldn’t normally be able to do. That is good news!! Our goal as we go through the next few months is to have enough things taken care of that he officially starts on July 1 that he and his family will have a lot of time to focus on getting to know you all, and you all can focus on getting to know them.
During this time I’ll also be working on some transition work for our move to Lockwood UMC. I’ll be making at least one trip down there to meet with folks between now and when we move. Please keep all of us, and our churches, in your prayers and we make these transitions.
As we go through this time, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!! I’ll be more than happy to sit down with you and talk through them.

Important Announcements
Yesterday we had our first of two information sessions. That one was on our pastoral change. Next Sunday after worship, we’ll have another information session. This time it will be all about General Conference.
Because this is expected to be a very big General Conference, we’ll have another information session sometime after it concludes. We’ll be able to talk about what went on at it and what that will mean for the next couple of years as we the changes that were passed become implemented.
Please keep all of the folks involved in General Conference in your prayers!
