What tools are you working with, and General Conference info
Your Weekly Update from Marceline UMC
Hello Church,
Yesterday we were talking about the different tools that we have available to us, to help us grow in our faith. Very often, we have them in unexpected places if we know where to look. There is a movement in the church right now called Fresh Expressions which is set up to look for those tools that we already have, we just don’t know it. You can find a story of one of those examples below.
Mornings with a Mission serves coffee and souls - Dakotas Conference
As you read through that, what ideas come to mind for you? Spend some time this week reflected on what tools you might already have.
Down in the news section we have several links to General Conference resources. One of the hallmarks of being Methodist, as our Bishop says on a regular basis, is that we do our theology in public. Sometimes that feels like a bad idea, but most often that means that nothing stays hidden and we are able to work through the things we need to work through. Often, that also means that we hear voices that we wouldn’t otherwise hear that help us figure things out.
One, of many examples, comes in the form of a couple of stories that are below. This is part of larger conversations that are happening as we get ready for General Conference. These kinds of conversations, in addition to a great deal of prayer and discernment, mean that we can normally find a very good path forward.

Parting Shot
Thank you to everyone for being patient with me (us) this past week as we’ve been running around sick. This picture is from Friday when I needed to get some things done, but Jack’s babysitter had to be gone. So he got to experience the youth room and play with some really good bubble wrap! He had a blast. And yes, if you’re curious, you are hearing a faint British accent come from him at times. He’s been watching a lot of Peppa Pig.
