Hello Church,
Today is a holiday, so make sure to take some time to rest and relax!! Along with that, here is the link to the story I was telling you yesterday. If you get a chance, take a look at it.
Beth Moore: When I Was a Stranger in the SBC, Anglicans Welcomed Me | Christianity Today
After you do that, take some time to reflect on what was most important in her story and of the church’s role in it. Then take a look below.
We’re going to be spending a some time over the next couple of months doing that work that you’re doing in reflection, but as a church. Its going to start with some listening sessions later in September and go into a retreat in October. To get ready for that, take some time to reflect on some specific questions.
What do you see as the purpose of the church?
In your opinion, what are the most important ministries of the church? What are the least?
How would you describe our church to someone new to our area?
What do you think are the greatest needs of our community?
Over the last 5-6 years, how has our Marceline changed? How has it remained the same?
What is good about our church? What are you worried about?
What do we need to change as a church?
Where do you see God leading us?
How we answer these questions as a church will help us make plans for the next few months, and the next few years. That means, when we start sign-ups for these sessions, we really need you to be there! Also, if you would like to host one of these sessions, let me know and we can make it happen.
We’re going to be tallying the poll results on Thursday. If you still need to get your responses in, please do so before then. Remember, this is a very informal poll that is meant to help us understand where we are as a church, and help our lay delegate to Annual Conference know where we are. You can expect to hear about the results once we think we’ve got the responses in and get them tallied.
Also, look below for some links to news stories from the larger church.
