You Have Been Challenged
Your Weekly Update from Marceline UMC
Hello Church, We had a successful youth led worship service on Sunday. They made an excellent point, what will we do with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness. They challenged us to “get off the couch” and get engaged in ministry and mission. Friends, let’s follow their example.
We are creating a church directory, the last one was in 2017. Information will be available on Sunday along with people to assist you in selecting a time slot to have your photo taken. Every member who has their photo taken will receive a free 8x10 and a free directory. You will be offered an opportunity to purchase more photos if you would like. There is no pressure. Also you are encouraged to invite friends and family to schedule a time as well. They will also receive a free 8x10.
Our youth group is starting back up and will be meeting on Sunday mornings on the weeks that there is no youth Sunday school class. There has been word that they might possibly be interested in a mission project / trip. I’m excited about this.
And now, may we be united as the body of Christ, enabling us to carry the peace and love of God to the world and our community. Amen!
Things to know
The adult Sunday School class will be starting a new study. They will be working through a study based on Chosen. If you have never seen the show now is your chance and if you have seen it now is your chance to dive deeper into the show and the bible. They meet on Sunday mornings at 9:20.
Open Call to all Singers and Musicians
As you may very well have figured out by now my undergraduate degree is not in music and the bucket I use to carry my tune has a hole in the bottom. That being said, if you can carry a tune and would like to be a song leader please contact pastor Joe. We are also looking for pianists and organists, so if you play or know someone who does please let us know.
Charge News
Marceline is now on a charge (two or more churches that are placed together for ministry) with Meadville UMC. This section will contain information from Meadville UMC about events and groups that are meeting with a warm invitation to anyone who would like to attend.
Bible Study
A new bible study is starting at Meadville UMC on Wednesdays at 11:30 (light lunch provided) The study begins on Oct. 2nd but you are welcome to join any Wednesday.
Exercise Class
Meadville UMC has an exercise class that meets on Monday and Thursdays at 4pm. The class consists of a 5 minute standing warm up and the rest is done while seated in a chair with resistance bands, balls, and weights. The whole class lasts about 45 minutes. “It’s a good work out”, Pastor Joe
Meadville UMC - Prayer Shawl Group
Meadville UMC has a group that makes prayer shawls for babies, those in the hospital, and anyone in need of prayer. They will be meeting October 17th at 2pm in Meadville at the church. All are welcome.
