The Big Messy Church Email
You’ve heard me talking about this for a while, so what is this messy church thing?
Its a worship experience. I’m deliberately not saying a worship service, it is an experience. Its a combination of worship, meals, VBS, small groups, play, music, and more. That sounds like a lot, but the main focus is on engaging with God and each other through these experiences.
The experiences are geared so that younger kids can participate, but they’re good for all ages. Adults, you are just as welcome to come and be a part of this. You don’t even have to be a helper, just coming and experiencing along side the kids and getting messy with them would be wonderful!
Check out the video below to see what this looks like in practice
When we get together, we’ll follow this path for our experience.
Gathering (games & snacks) ➡ Activities (crafts, experiments, projects, etc) ➡ Worship/Celebration (music & a message) ➡Meal together
When we meet, we’ll gather for about an hour and a half, which sounds like a long time except that we won’t be sitting for a lot of it. We’ll be up and moving a lot.
Some of you have already let us know in the poll when works best or worst to try and do this. If you haven’t, please let us know below (answer both polls!)
If you answered other, please let me know what time that is
We’re going to start by doing this once a month, and we’re asking folks to commit to three months so we can see how it will all come together.
Here’s the big question. How can you help? Getting started is a big lift, but with your help I know we can do it. Let us know how you can help. Click the link below and let us know. You don’t have to be real specific now about what you want to do, just broad categories. We’ll get to the details soon.
I am really looking forward to this! You can find out more about messy church by going to Messy Church USA
As always, if you have any questions, just let me know. Our next meeting will be on Sunday March 19th at 4:30 down in the Fellowship Hall. Come on out!
Thank you!
Pastor John
